A message may seem convincing or urgent, but verifying its source matters more than replying quickly.
Do not share a password, PIN or verification code with someone contacting you by phone or message. Enter verification details only through the official channel and after checking the transaction you are authorizing.
If you are unsure about a link, do not open it from the message. Go directly to the official website or app, then verify the request using the contact details published there.
Confirm directly with the person making the request through a trusted contact method you have used before, especially if you are asked to transfer money to a new account.
When receiving a payment, check its status in your system or with the authorized provider. Do not rely solely on a screenshot of a message or an unverifiable receipt.
Stop interacting, keep the message and transaction reference if available, and contact the account or card provider through its official channels. Do not delete evidence before recording it.
